The Lossiemouth Tenants Forum was founded in 1998 as an informal group of tnenats meeting with the housing officer. It became an organised group in 2000 and was constituted in 2002 and became a registerd tenants organisation with the Scottish government in 2004. It has gone from strength to Strength
The Forum is consulted by the Council and The Scottish Government on matters relating to housing and tenancies. It is also consulted on matters which affect tenant in a more general way. The Forum replies to all consultations as an individual forum and jointly with the Core Group.
The Forum receives an annual grant from the Moray Council to cover the costs of running the forum and an annual environmental grant of approximately £15,000. This grant is to be used to enhance the environment of tenants or to improve their facilities. In most years it has been spent upgrading front gardens by erecting fences and installing security lights. All ideas from tenants are considered.
Members of the forum also sit on the Housing sub committee and several working groups with council officers. Members of the forum also sit on several Scottish Government working groups and the Northern Lights Regional Network which covers Moray, Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Orkney and Shetland. The Tenants Regulation Advisory Group and the Inspection Advisory Group which are Scottish Government working groups to advise on Scotland-wide tenant matters.
The Lossiemouth Tenants Forum meets at 7pm on the second Tuesday of every month at 7.00pm in the Seaview Suite of the Lossiemouth Town Hall.
Any tenant is welcome to attend these meetings.
